I am excited to have completed two new digital photographs based on the Swimmer at the Sagamie centre for digital photography. The protagonist of these images, wearing a vintage bathing cap, is set in a landscape adorned by the lac St-Jean. The archival inkjet print is a composite from video footage, scans, and photography.

This work is inspired by the Traversée du lac St-Jean and the two women who won the 32 km marathon : Greta Anderson, a young woman from the United States, in 1958 and Judith de Nys from Holland, in 1966 as well as by Christine Cossette, a 22-year old swimmer from Chicoutimi, Quebec who in 1984 accomplished the 64 km roundtrip of the Traversée du lac St-Jean in 18 hours, 27 minutes and 10 seconds
