Launch of a major publication entitled SAGAMIE, L’IMPRIMÉ NUMÉRIQUE EN ART CONTEMPORAIN at the Côte-des-Neiges Maison de la culture. The Centre SAGAMIE is an artists-run center specializing in the production, exhibition and publication of contemporary digital art (digital research of two-dimensional images and wide format digital printing). Each year, the Centre SAGAMIE hosts close to forty artists in residencis from Quebec, Canada and abroad. Co-published with éditions d’Art Le SABORD in Trois-Rivières, this 200-page book provides a visual overview of selected digital works by 50 artists who completed artistic residencies at the Centre SAGAMIE. This is followed by an anthology of theoretical essays by 11 authors well-known for their work in the research and development of new technologies. These texts examine the impact that advances in digital production have had on current artistic creation and on the distribution of works of art. This wide-ranging publication documents the efforts of hundreds of artists-in-residence whose work has contributed to the digital research at the Centre SAGAMIE over the last ten years, while the essays deepen the theoretical understanding of this constantly evolving art form which is being integrated at every level of artistic creation. This reference book will serve to broaden the understanding of digital art among a wider audience.

The SAGAMIE Centre has prepared this group exhibition to accompany the launch of its major publication, SAGAMIE, L’IMPRIME NUMERIQUE EN ART CONTEMPORAIN. Published by Éditions d’Art du SABORD in Trois-Rivières, this 200-page book offers a visual journey through a selection of digital works by 50 artists who had artist’s residencies at the SAGAMIE Centre. The book also contains a collection of theoretical texts by 11 well-known authors who write on research on and development of new technologies. The essays explore the different effects of digital production tools on the creation of two-dimensional contemporary art and the distribution of artworks. This major publication thus provides an overview of the hundreds of artists who have contributed to digital research at the SAGAMIE Centre over the last 10 years, while deepening theoretical thought on this emerging art medium that is being used by artists at all levels of their work. This reference book will enable an interested public to advance their comprehension of digital art.
